Mini-Split Cleaning in Hebron, NH

Hebron is the quiet end of Newfound Lake. Six hundred-odd people, two villages — Hebron proper on the common where North Shore, West Shore, and Groton roads meet, and East Hebron over on Route 3A — and a shoreline the old boys’ and girls’ camps kept from ever filling up with cottages. Roughly four houses in ten here are seasonal. The other six burn oil, propane, or wood. We clean mini-splits in both kinds.

Why Mini-Splits in Hebron Need Cleaning

The town is small enough that the numbers are easy to say out loud. The latest census survey counted 573 housing units and only 334 of them lived in year-round; 235 are seasonal or occasional places, most of them along West Shore Road, the village end of North Shore Road, and the Route 3A side near Pasquaney Bay. Of the year-round houses, about 145 heat with oil, 124 with propane, and 48 with wood as the main fuel — one house in seven, more than double the state rate. Nearly every one is a detached single-family house, median year built 1977, and there isn’t a mobile-home park in town. The north end of the lake looks the way it does because of the camps: Pasquaney has run on the East Hebron shore since 1895, Onaway since 1900, Mowglis since 1903, and Berea took over the old Camp Sagamore ground below Indian Point before the war. Add Paradise Point (NH Audubon, 43 acres, 3,500 feet of rocky shore), the Hebron Marsh sanctuary, and Grey Rocks — the old marina the McLane family gave to the Newfound Lake Region Association in 2011 — and a big share of the waterfront is trees, not driveways. The Cockermouth River comes down out of Groton, through the village, past the marsh, and into the lake, and that flat delta ground holds fog on summer mornings the way the hill roads never do. Power is mostly NH Electric Co-op, with Eversource poles in part of town.

Hebron Tip

If you close a West Shore Road or East Hebron camp after Columbus Day, have the mini-split cleaned and dried before you lock it, not after the Hebron Fair when it’s already been smelling for two months. Wood-heat houses up Hobart Hill and Groton Road should book in April, once the stove’s cold.
