Mini-Split Cleaning in Campton, NH

Campton is where I-93 lets go of the Pemigewasset and Route 49 starts climbing toward Waterville Valley. Five villages, three covered bridges, about 3,300 people, and a housing count that runs to 1,939 — 612 of them seasonal. Nearly one year-round house in four heats with wood. We clean mini-splits in the chalets up at Waterville Estates and the farmhouses down in Campton Hollow, and they get dirty in completely different ways.

Why Mini-Splits in Campton Need Cleaning

Two exits serve the town: 27 at Blair Road, which runs east to Route 175 past the Blair Bridge (1869, 292 feet over the Pemi), and 28 at Campton Station, where Route 49 leaves Route 3, crosses the river, and follows the Mad River through the Lower and Upper Villages, over Campton Pond, and out the only winter road into Waterville Valley. The census survey counts 1,289 occupied houses: 615 on oil, 312 on wood, 241 on propane, 59 on electric. Twenty-four percent wood is the highest share we work in, and most of it is in the older stock — Campton Hollow, West Campton, the Beebe River mill village Parker-Young built in 1917 and Draper ran as a bobbin plant until the mid-1980s. The other half of town is up in the hills. Waterville Estates, roughly 700 chalets, A-frames, and condos on 863 acres the Locke family started carving out of Campton Mountain in the late 1960s, has its own village district, its own water system, and a 313-foot ski hill. Add 183 mobile homes, mostly in the parks along Route 175, and 173 units in small condo and apartment buildings, and you have a town with no single kind of house. Power comes from NH Electric Co-op in some of town and Eversource in the rest, with Campton Community Power buying the supply for both.

Campton Tip

Ski-house owners at Waterville Estates: the mini-split that ran every weekend from December to March has been sitting wet since the last Sunday you drove home. Have it cleaned before Memorial Day. Wood-heat houses in the Hollow and along Route 175 should book in April, once the stove’s out for good.
